The origin of drinking tea actually comes from china, so it is surprising that more people are not accustomed to drinking Chinese tea. As it originates from china, the Chinese are known to drink tea at several times during the day. There are two reasons why tea is drank so frequently, this is to promote good health and also just for pleasure.

Although this originates from china, the actual method for processing tea comes from ancient china. The popular legend behind the origin of tea states that Chinese Emperor Shennong discovered tea in 2737BC when a leaf fell into a pot of water which he was boiling.

There are several elements which are considered to be characteristics of Chinese history and culture which forms part of their everyday lifestyles. The beverage - tea, is considered to be one of these necessities. And as such, the Chinese will drink it several times daily.

If you are familiar with Chinese tea at all then, chances are that you will know that there are several categories or types of tea which you can get, these include; white, green, oolong, black and red teas. All of these are a variation of the original tea, which owes its existence to the Camellia sinensis plant, this list is in no way exhaustive.

Despite there being several variations of tea in china, the most popular in china and around the world is green tea. This is known for its powerful antioxidant traits, and is often drunk as part of a healthy diet. Therefore conforming with the idea of promoting good health.

The ancient Chinese actually used the tea for medical purposes, due to the antioxidants in the tea, it was used to cleanse the digestive system especially of toxins. This is very different to how the history would suggest, as the history makes it seem as though it has always been drunk, as a beverage, although as you can see this is not necessarily the case.

It was not until later on, after many years of using it for medical purposes that the Chinese actually learnt to grow tea trees and make various types of tea. As well as time altering the types of teas which were produced, the area, and each dynasty changed the ideas and types of teas available.

Many people, if they were asked, would have no idea of the origin of tea. Also, those who drink it for health reasons are probably also unaware of the origins. There is so much history behind Chinese tea, so it is a wonder why more people do not drink it to promote good health and for pleasure reasons.
