Tea in general, have originated from China. It started as a sort of concoction for thousand of years and mainly used for its medicinal value. Through the years, Chinese tea gradually evolved as a beverage. Many parts of the world finally caught on with the love for this kind of drink and today, we have many of these tea processed and in many different variety.

This drink comes from the processed leaves of a plant specie scientifically known as Camellia sinensis.There are several ways to process this plant leaves thus, we now know of several varieties of tea. Teas mainly comes in four types, namely: green tea, oolong or black dragon tea, white tea and black tea.

There are also many variations of this types of tea as sometimes some ingredients are added in the processing of the leaves. Most commonly added ingredients are spices, flower petals or even oils. And of course, who hasn't heard of a good cold iced tea?

Probably the reason why the world fell in love with this beverage is that drinking tea has many health benefits. For one, there are studies which shows overwhelming evidence of tea helping combat cancer.It is interesting to note that there is lesser incidence of breast cancer particularly in tea consuming countries like Japan and China. Furthermore, it is scientifically shown that an antioxidants called polyphenols found in green tea helps in the inhibition of tumor cells.

Aside from this, some types of tea are also known to aid in digestion when you've had a full meal. Also, it is interesting to note that it has gained a popular following these days. And this is largely due to the weight loss mania and teas are known to help stimulate the body to burn fats. Although, this is not meant to be taken as a miracle fat burner.

Other benefits of tea include helping in the removal of toxins in your body. Additionally, there are some people who've experienced relief from illnesses such as heart and lung problems due to its large quantity of antioxidants. Which really makes sense. Tea originated from being used as a medicinal substance, after all.

Many people drink tea just for the sole enjoyment of the drink. While there are others who drink this beverage because of its health benefits. Whatever reason you may have for drinking Chinese tea, it's always good to know that something that can taste good can have the added benefits to your body as well.
